BelmulletBelmullet Civic Centre

The overall project has a number of focus areas. It is an educational heritage, culture and arts centre. It also fulfils other functions, which include a local area Council office and a Court House. On the educational focus the building contains lecture halls, workspaces, a large auditorium and all related & associated areas. The state of the art auditorium also provides the facility for the promotion of the arts, which include the visual and performing arts. The additional uses of Council offices and a Court services area did add to the complexity of the project.

The building is in its basic principle is a traditional concrete frame structure cast insitu with blockwork infill on concrete cast insitu foundations. There is however a very high specification of finishes. The finish involved the use of KAL Zip roofing, which required very special care and attention.

There was also alot of natural local stone facing on the building and the glazing involved was thermally broken aluminium windows and curtain walling. Internally the use of high spec materials included cherrywood doors and furniture manufactured in house in our own workshop. The floor finishes included sheet materials and marble tiles. There was also a full acoustically designed auditorium constructed to the highest sound standards.
